No, I won't get the IGN Lotus. It belongs to an old friend who I don't even know if they still have it.

An idea for the grinding in familiar system

    Posted: 28 Jul 2020 11:00 PM PDT

    Hey

So from what I see, the worst part of the new familiar system is to force level 200 player to waste their grind time on farming low level maps for no exp.

    • I saw some people suggesting giving Arcane monsters a familiar drop, and its a decent way to get rid of the grinding in low level maps problem.

    • I have an idea tho, why don't they give arcane monster a new drop, something like a booster shard, where every 10 shards can be exchanged for a booster pack (and shard drop rate same as the common familiar drop).

The problem with the booster shard idea is that nexon sells them for much, so they wouldn't give the normal booster in a grind phase unless they remove the normal booster from shop and relay on the better rate boosters as cash shop item.

I know GMS nexon hardly take a feed back, but this past week most the complains were about the unique lines on epic familiar, where the major problem should been grinding low level maps.

but because the main complain wasn't about this, nexon won't think once about editing the system.

Mechanically deficient Thunder Breaker looking for advice on getting past the early 200 hump (wall of text)

    Posted: 28 Jul 2020 05:40 PM PDT

[GMS] Disclaimer: This is going to be a very long and boring post filled with tangents because I am a millennial and lack validation and emotional support

I'm a longtime on-and-off player who started playing Maplestory in around 2006 when I was in Form 2; 7-8th grade for the North Americans. I made a Thunder Breaker in what is now Aurora 2 years ago and got to ~210 but haven't played since the Tenebris Expedition event (I only know this because I have a Tenebris Expedition Ring lol). I began playing again at the start of July mainly because I saw the release of Adele and was super pumped. I got both my Adele and tera-burned Pathfinder to 210 in like 5 days altogether but that's a story for another day.

However, I did end up going back to my Thunder Breaker because sharks > flying swords ever so slightly - still super excited to spend more time playing Adele in the future. Because of the pandemic, I have more time than usual on my hands so my TB currently sits at 218 and some change. I would like to break through to the next 'stage' of Maplestory on my TB which in my eyes is CRA three doors, maybe hard Magnus.

Let me begin by listing my problems:

    1. I am "mechanically impaired" via a combination east-coast latency and absolute trash tier reaction times and reflexes. To give some context to that, I have a hard time dodging the dropping balls in Magnus and 7/10 times I fail to use i-frame/Hero's Will Hilla's cage. On characters that can't nearly instantly kill Pierre I tend to get hit by his (whatever knockback attack) quite often. I'm also 0/4 on Normal Cygnus practice mode attempts not because I can't do enough damage, I'm just bad. It could also be that I prioritize right clicks over actual gameplay and strategy which does sometimes happen when it's late and I'm tired

    2. I have no real sense of direction when it comes to progression. I've made it to where I am today on a combination of brute force and dumb luck. I know enough about the basic xgame mechanics (flames/potential/transfer hammers etc) but don't really know how to prioritize and apply that knowledge

    3. I'm dirt poor. I'm 95% F2P (I've used about 40k NX in my lifetime getting pets for my characters and splurging on the occasional TP rock. I've also lost another like 10k due to inactivity lol). In terms of mesos, I'm absolutely lost. I usually hover around 100-200m on my TB, but that barely keeps be afloat because arcane symbols are so expensive. Also, because of point 2 I also make terrible spending decisions like blowing 400m to go from 0-->1 stars on my Tyrant cape

Now obviously nobody can help me become a 1337 pro gamer, but I'm hoping for some tips with respect to points 2 and 3.

Here's where my TB is right now:

    • Stats and equipment:

      • With my regular buffs I can get to just under 1.7m and if I add in Hypers, Lightning Cascade and Loaded dice I can bump that up to barely 2m for a short period of time. I'm not usually in a position to do that when attempting harder bosses because I have to fit in Erda Nova and Hero's will.
      • My gear is a random assortment of "I thought it looked good so I bought it" and "It was part of an event.... and I thought it looked good so I got it"
    • Legion: A paltry 1600. I don't even have the outer grid unlocked yet

    • Link skills: I currently have Kanna, Demon Slayer, Explorer Bowman, and Adele links for damage (all lvl 2)

    • Profession: It's at Meister with some low mastery. I thought it would be helpful to craft my own cubes but it's so damn expensive

    • Familiars: N/A

    • Monster Farm: Like 3 dead monsters or something

I've seen videos and posts discussing CRA and it seems like my character's stats (low 80 IED, 150 boss, almost 10k state) are generally enough to take on the three doors. I even saw a video by another Thunder Breaker defeating Chaos Vellum with "worse" stats than mine (lower IED and boss but higher damage window number). However I'd like to be a bit overgeared for that fight to make up for my extremely bad skill. I tried Crimson Queen once and I didn't even last 5 minutes.

What I think are my next steps:

    • Burning World:

      • I plan on adding about 1000 levels to my legion via 3 lvl 200 characters and 3 more 150s
      • With those characters, I hope to add Luminous and Beast Tamer Link skills. I also burned a Mechanic to 150 but I don't really feel like getting it to 200 lol, it's really not my style. I might try for Phantom and then some easier characters for the last 2
    • Mega-burninator: I'll be using this on my Ark to get the link skill. I'll also try to get it to 200 to help out with my legion

    • Legion: I'm aiming for 3000 to unlock 2 rows of the outer grid

    • Meso farming: Right now I'm able to farm about 150m a week from bossing and Scrapyard and DWT weeklies, give or take 10m depending on if I get anything I can sell. I can probably bump this up another 100m if I treat my other characters like bossing SCVs, and another ~60m if I do Maple Tour every day

    • Equipment:

      • If I'm able to acquire a good number of cubes, I'd like to cube my WSE for some boss/crit/IED lines but that's an RNG money sink
      • I haven't done the Heizen temple questline on this character so I'm still able to get Kanna's Treasure. I also have a Ghost Ship Exorcist Badge since this character was made before that content was removed.
      • I have enough denaros to purchase both a Sweetwater Monocle and Tattoo, but it feels kind of useless if I don't spend mesos on star forcing and upgrading potential
      • I'm eligible for the 15-star starforce scroll from the RISE event but haven't claimed it yet. I feel like I should apply it to one of the above items since all my current gear already has some level of star force
    • Stats:

      • I'm going to find some time to get to 220 before the end of the week so I can unlock a new area and symbol which will be a cheaper method to raise 3-400 STR
      • 220 will also unlock a new node slot for added flexbility when bossing
      • I would like to get Crit/Boss IAs but right now 27 attack seems a bit too valuable to me to gamble away with the limited honor exp I have
    • Familiars: It seems like such a clusterfuck I plan on ignoring it right now

    • NX: I have 12k NX in the bank and 50k Maple points, with another potentially 15k on the way if I can keep up with the Maple relay. I generally pride myself on being "F2P" but since I already have NX and the maple points were earned via in game events I don't mind spending it. I'm also aware that it's not a lot in the grand scheme of things and is probably only enough to marginally upgrade 1 equip

    • Boost nodes (I forgot to write about this, thanks hailcrest): I'm sitting at around low 20s for my main bossing trio right now. I feel like it's really hard to acquire cores outside of special events and the auction house. I'm not sure how to progress in this aspect as so far I'm relying on the weekly Vanishing Journey reward and random drops from farming, which is really slow. Would upgrading cores take precedence over equipment and stats?

Am I on the right track in terms of next steps? Is there anything that I should be focusing on, or that I'm missing? I'm also not sure if incremental equipment upgrades are better or if I should just save up and start buying Absolab equipment. I do already have a free 'Fakesolab' weapon from a previous Maple relay so I'm not sure if I should spend any more mesos on my Fafnir knucle.

Thank you for reading all of this, any advice would be appreciated, even a "git gud and learn to CRA". Cheers

Can someone ELI5 to me Mushroom Shrine Tales

    Posted: 28 Jul 2020 11:26 PM PDT

I understand the spirit we end up beating up as the final boss is evil and all that for trying to eat up the 5 elements for revenge and whatever, but why are we just letting that giant bird get away with it given he's actually the ultimate cause of everything that happens across all five episodes? Wasn't he the douche that punished the final boss for some hilariously dumb reason like feeding a hungry Kappa?

Where the fuck does he even get introduced to begin with? He just randomly pops up from episode 2/3(?) onwards randomly?

Meanwhile, who's this sassy fuckwit of a Kappa during said trials and why does he/she/it randomly come up as one of our "friends" during one of the trials?

Why is this story so disjointed, incomplete and badly thought-out compared to all the other story content available in the game? In every episode I end up asking "who tf is this guy?" or "why tf is this happening" several times and I just can't get into it.

Like I can at least appreciate the small connection to old Neo Tokyo storyline all the way back with the two gods showing up at the end.

A few questions about nodes in general (and maybe Kanna nodes)

    Posted: 29 Jul 2020 01:01 AM PDT

I just have a few questions about Kanna and her nodes in general. I've been looking and reading up on stuff but it's still just confusing to me... I'm a 220 Kanna, with a tiny bit more focus on bossing these days if that's relevant.

    1) I've been told to boost Shikigami/Yaksha/Tengu/Doppel/Yosuzume/Kishin/Exorcist/Vanquisher/Ninetail in 6 nodes. That means any combination that works together is a perfect tri-node, right? Or if not then what is a perfect tri-node?

    2) Once I find the 6 nodes, some skills will be duplicates (for example one node will have Shikigami as main boost while another node has Shikigami on the second line). Do these stack and if they do, should I be focusing on stacking up one particular skill more than the others?

^ if they don't stack then can I just find 3 nodes with 9 skills?

    3) I can just disassemble nodes that boost Veritable Pandemonium, Falling Sakura, Nightghost Guide, Binding Tempest, Shikigami Charm, and Orochi Unbound since they're of no use to boost right?

Sorry these are a lot of questions I just asked... but thank you :D

    State of Angelic Busters 2020

    Posted: 28 Jul 2020 04:28 PM PDT

How are ABs faring in this era, and upcoming AWAKE era? Does the new V skill actually improve their survivability? (14s cd 20% dmg reduction skill) Are they also strong? Im asking this as I have made an AB to 200 and I really like their playstyle a lot. F2P and (non reboot) thinking if I should put in resources as this is a 2 mth old acc with about 3.6k legion.

Another question about her V skill that gives her the 10s iframe. I'm not sure how it works. When does the iframe apply?
