Shoutout to the Bishops in MapleStory Posted: 22 Jan 2021 03:35 PM PST I was talking to the Bishop in one of my parties, and it just hit me how their contribution to a party isn't appreciated enough sometimes. They are definitely a class that is highly sought-after in parties... but I couldn't help but sense his frustration from constantly being left in the dust once all the DPS members are able to solo/duo the bosses. It was pretty disheartening to hear his experience of putting in the same amount of effort (if not more) as others to clear bosses together, but ending up having to look for new parties because naturally, as a support class, he's not able to solo/duo the same bosses with the same amount of time/investment. So... I guess I just wanted to shout out all of the Bishops out there who continue to support their parties unconditionally. You guys are loved and appreciated. [link] [comments] | ||

Constant crashing and channel instability during Guild Party Quests Posted: 22 Jan 2021 07:45 PM PST Over 3+ weeks, a significant number of guilds have been suffering from the private channel instability that cause inevitable disconnections that damage the GPQ rankings for the week. A content that cannot be repeated during the week, and all the more difficult to organize a time for 30+ people to participate in it. During the bossing stage of the specific content, skills that are client based go off rapidly and do not go on cooldown causing significant spike in memory as well as put strain on the channel causing players to crash. I know that you are just a community manager and might not be given all the information required to give us an adequate response to this issue, but is there any information on this that you can provide for us? These white rooms got me thinking… Posted: 22 Jan 2021 04:36 AM PST How is Nexon still implementing certain mechanics and NOT informing the players about its most important aspects? Or even its basics, really? How is the player supposed to understand that he was sent to a plain white map due to suspicious behaviour, and not from a bug or a misplaced line of code in a portal or skill? There is no clear indication of the map's function outside external sources… so how is this supposed to work, exactly? By resorting to "collective knowledge"? Absolutely not. There seems to be a lot of confusion on Nexon's part regarding what type of information should be left out of the game. Take Commerci's transposition, for example - a system that implemented back in 2014 and still has no clear indication of complete untradability as a result. You can leave specific lootbox rates to an external source. You can leave certain obscure interactions between systems to an external source. But you cannot, ever, leave such a game-changing consequence out of the game itself. Could you imagine a console game displaying a message telling players to look over the wikia for a piece of basic information? It is baffling how certain tickets were met by a "you should've done your research", as if it is the player's responsibility to resort to external sources to understand basic aspects of the game. When, in reality, the game MUST inform the player about the risks and potential punishments, either directly or indirectly (preferably the first). In truth, we all know that botting is a bad behaviour and can be met with punishment, and people do expect to be banned if they do engage in such activities; but what does a plain white map tell us, in a game with such a history of misplaced teleports? It is not that hard to display an alert message when the player arrives on that map.It is not that hard to change its appearance to a prison cell and inform the player about what they have done to be sent there.It is not hard to give even the slightest guideline to a player. And all of this isn't obscure, picky or extra-specific game knowledge, it's just common sense. [link] [comments] | ||
