    v214 in a nutshell

Memo v214 made me have an existential crisis

    Posted: 29 May 2020 07:41 PM PDT

Its so frustrating that no matter how much people try to help nexon with their game (via countless feedback messages) not matter how much people complaining about the out of touch changes, we are never heard, what is even the point of all the hours spent in a game that is increasingly getting worse and worse. The worst part is that I actually love the game but there's not much left to be loved, every fucking update I prepare myself to see all the changes that makes everything more shit.

I played a lot of MMO's, and a lot of them had really shit companies doing shitty things but I had the feeling that it was just a mistake, on GMS I see more as pure malice towards the players.

    Fuck.

    Starforcing mesos cost needs adjusted!

    Posted: 29 May 2020 01:27 PM PDT

The game is radically different than it was a month or two ago. Right now it's approaching unsustainable. The amount of mesos entering the economy is drastically lower than it has ever been, thanks to nexon squashing bots. I don't support the process that used to exist but at least the game was enjoyable and it felt like progression was significant. Now, every ounce of mesos matters and it just feels like it vanishes so fast.

A parable my grandfather used to tell

    Posted: 29 May 2020 11:17 PM PDT

Once there was this miserly wagon-driver, who did not like the cost of his horse's feed.

So he decided to cut the amounts he was giving the horse in half.

The horse ate the halved amounts, and kept pulling the wagon.

The man saw this worked, so he halved the amount of feed again.

The horse started losing weight, but it still pulled the wagon, after a bit of whipping.

The man was elated, and halved the horse's feed again.

    It died.

The man said, "Damn! Just when I had almost gotten it to go without food entirely!"

You may draw your own conclusions as to why I felt the need to tell r/Maplestory this tale today.

    Little tips regarding Kinesis skills

    Posted: 29 May 2020 09:10 PM PDT

Just thought I would share some skill tips I have acquired over the years with fellow new & veteran Kinesis users. (some of the stuff you might know you might not).

    - Mental Shield: If your boy has this on, then he a simp It's that magic guard skill where you lose 1 pp with 60% reduced damage. Not an ideal skill to have it on since all we do is manage that pp real hard. But only time I would turn it on is during the Cqueen and her fire. It ticks 60% less. Try it. Don't forget to turn it off afterwards.

    - Kinetic piledriver: Some might think this is an useless skill after you hit level 6, but this boy gets milked when you battle those hard bosses. Ex: during the Magnus topblade spin and lotus punch skill, just spam the skill to not be knocked back.

    - Ultimate - Deep impact: most of you should know this (except me who learned about this at lvl 220), any sort of damage reflect on any boss gets cancelled with this skill. Oh and use this during 1st phase Lotus to dodge the laser beams.

    - Kinetic jaunt: this is one skill that sounds very useless but this is some top tier skills for bossing. While using the Mental Tempest (your I frame) use kinetic jaunt to move freely, and you get a nice free real estate damage in the middle of your I-Frame.

Also while using your decent skills from the 5th job, press kinetic jaunt lightly (don't hold) to also cancel the animation but receive the buff.

And I believe that's all I know, thanks for reading and happy mapling.

P.S. Any other questions regarding Kinesis & etc feel free to message me

    Grandis Library Update!

    Posted: 29 May 2020 11:56 AM PDT

Hello! I have returned to bring a quick update on the website and what has been added since last time. I have taken most of the feedback from last time and implemented it to the website. Most of it was functionality but also a bit of content changes

Anyways, over the month this is what has been added so far:

    • 25 / 47 Class Overviews completed wooo!!
    • Boss Pre-Quests info
    • Link Skill info
    • Shared Cash Shop Inventory info
    • Upgrading & Enhancing Gear info
    • Quick Links menu button to jump between sections
    • Quick Jumps within pages to help navigate easier
    • Improved section navigation for mobile view
    • A footer tag for the GMS version site is updated to (most content is still relevant to all servers though besides GMS)
    • Get Involved page ( a lot of people wanted to contribute which I am very happy about! 8D )

The biggest thing so far that I wanted to share is a Progression Guide. The guide consists of information on Important Content, Important Questlines to complete, Equipment Content, Bosses, Daily + Weekly Quests, Training Maps, Theme Dungeons, Quests and 5th Job Advancement. Most of the content is from the Level Content Guide that has been shuffled around and trimmed to the essentials

    https://www.grandislibrary.com/contents/progression-guide

Also wanted to add, most of the guides here are mainly for information about the game rather than actual guides that direct you towards the best-in-slot. I wanted to create something that showed all the options and helped people fill all their equipment slots earlygame. There are people who do a much better job than I will in explaining everything more thoroughly and help you progress towards midgame and so on

Last time a lot of people reached out to help out (which I greatly appreciate), this time around I am looking for help if anyone has Hyper Skill, Hyper Stat, 5th Job Skills information for their class they'd like to share. Any advice / tips for your class would also be appreciated to make less known information more well known. A more tedious task that I do not expect is if anyone can record GIFs of their class' skills to be used for the Class Overviews

Thanks for all your positive support!! <3

Unpopular opinion: Kishin is taken for granted

    Posted: 30 May 2020 12:38 AM PDT

First off, I have nothing against Kishin. It's a cool mechanic that makes kanna unique and favourable. The problem with it is that it's taken for granted.

The fact that we have a totem mechanic accessible at practically no cost (debatable if 2 pc is no cost) should be viewed more positively. We are playing a Korean mmo but since kanna doesn't exist in KMS, we essentially have an edge over the original game. I find it baffling that players still complain to such extent. We should be glad it exists in the first place. Kanna is a pretty good class after the rework but Kishin has become the definition of the class so I wouldn't be surprised if they removed it in the future to give more identity to the class.

I also feel that totem costs are justified. You get an advantage that is not a normal behaviour in the first place. If it was too accessible it would throw the balance of the game, not to mention that you can obtain it just by playing the game. I believe totem also doesn't exist in KMS.

Not sure how many people feel the same way but I feel sad because the game I like is received with such backlash with negative comments and attitude.

Tldr: I feel like Kishin nerf is ok and we should be thankful it exists in the first place

    Unpopular opinion about the memo

    Posted: 29 May 2020 11:07 PM PDT

I genuinely think that the Kish nerf is a step in the right direction. Hopefully, later on they decide to completely phase out Kish. I think that is a bad business model to have people making second accounts to Kish themselves and for them to only have one option in terms of farming and progressing. I think that once maple phases Kish out they can make maps have a higher spawn rate overall so we don't need Kish. At least on reboot because main server has frenzy. Or they could make frenzy available through events or other means. This would mean that no one has to feel like their obligated to make a kanna to meso farm or a Kish mule to feel relavent in the game. Honestly that sounds like a good step in the right direction. This is assuming nexon will do anything about the spawn rate when Kish is eventually removed or nerfed too hard to be useful. Which we all know won't happen. But if this was a company that cared completely valid change.

What to get from pixel shop?

    Posted: 30 May 2020 01:50 AM PDT

I've only recently come back to maplestory so I'm pretty late to the pixel coin grind. I estimated that I'll only have around 3,500 or so coins by the end of the event. So my questions is, should I aim for any 2 out of (all reboot) Sylph Ring, Cosmos ring, and Vengeful ring (and if so which 2 combo), OR should I get the Chaos ring?

what should we consider now, based on the new changes

    Posted: 29 May 2020 08:14 PM PDT

I say we boycott NX entirely, please all MVP diamonds boycott and regular server NX users, don't spend any more money. Nexon is fucking us so let us fuck them back

why nerf fury totem when it already costs us 2k RP. but why not nerf frenzy totem? it's still a kishin based item?? why not listen to your community about game changes since you clearly don't play your game or care about the players. this legit ruins it for everyone, we are not KMS WE ARE GMS, were not supposed to be KMS because they're KMS. they have better latency and better servers, we don't, and their spawn rates are higher and guess what with 100 American dollars you can buy a thousand cubes based on currency exchanges. lmao Nexon you're a joke of a company.
