A Guide to the Beast Tamer Changes (RISE Patch) Posted: 11 Jun 2020 08:50 AM PDT Hello everyone! :) Beast Tamer has received a couple of large changes to its skill set in the RISE patch! This is a miniature guide on the specific changes made as well as the most effective animal set-up for players that main this class as well as for players who are leveling the class for its legion effect or link skill. This will also cover whether there are any changes to Beast Tamer's node trios and inner ability. The first point that I would like to mention is 'passive stacking'. This was a bug discovered by a fellow Beast Tamer player shortly after Beast Tamer's buffs during the Adventure Update. This bug essentially applied passive effects from each animal mode into every single animal mode, regardless of whether or not the Beast Tamer player was in the animal mode where the respective passive skill originated from. An example of this bug in action can be seen through the Snow Leopard passive skill 'Deadly Fangs'. This passive skill gives the player 30 Magic Attack and 20% Final Damage. The passive stacking bug meant that this bug was not just applied when the player was in Leopard Mode, but it was also applied when the player was in Bear Mode, Hawk Mode, and Cat Mode. In other words, Bear Mode, Cat Mode, and Hawk Mode were receiving the effects of 30 Magic Attack and 20% Final Damage as well. 'Deadly Fangs' is just one example of this bug in action, however this bug applied to every passive skill in Leopard Mode and Hawk Mode, significantly increasing the Beast Tamer players damage output. It's important to note that this passive stacking bug was not visual, meaning that the Beast Tamer player's client does not visually see an increase in damage numbers. Furthermore, the passive effects from each animal mode were also not showing up in the stat window or battle analysis. However, through extensive testing done by many Beast Tamer players, this bug was confirmed to be in effect. As of the RISE patch, this bug was fixed. This bug was not intended at all and as a result it's very understandable that it was addressed. It's interesting to point out though that as a result of this passive stacking bug, Beast Tamer's damage output went from relatively low to above average. There were a couple of aspects regarding this bug that were a little unbalanced, such as how this bug meant that Beast Tamer required zero outside sources of critical rate due to the passive critical rate effects from Leopard Mode and Hawk Mode applying to every animal mode. Furthermore, Beast Tamer's innate IED was also super inflated due to the passive stacking applying the passive IED effects from each animal mode to every animal mode. Due to this bug not showing up in the stat window and battle analysis, it was a little difficult to pinpoint how much damage Beast Tamer lost as a result of this bug being fixed. One way to test the damage loss was to time how much of a boss' health bar is decreased in a certain time interval. Lucid was a very great boss to test the damage difference. Through Lucid, it was concluded that Beast Tamer's damage output roughly halved after the RISE patch. These are the specific skill changes made to each animal mode after the RISE patch! Most of these changes were mentioned in the patch notes, but there were some changes discovered that were not mentioned in the patch notes: Beginner/General Changes
Fort the Bear
Lai the Snow Leopard
Eka the Hawk
Arby the CatNo known changes were made to Arby. There may be some changes made to Cat Mode that were not mentioned in the patch notes, but so far no changes have been discovered. Hyper SkillsA Level 190 Hyper Skill has been added for Beast Tamer. Prior to this patch, Beast Tamer was the only class in the game without a Level 190 Hyper Skill. All Together! Critter Crossing! is a hyper skill that applies all passive and buff effects from each animal mode to all animal modes. In other words, the passive stacking bug was made into a feature through this hyper skill. This skill is visual as well, meaning that the stat gains from the passives show up in the stat window as well as in Battle Analysis. Unfortunately, this skill has a very low up-time with a 60 second duration and a 360 second cool down. Bug: All Together! Critter Crossing is heavily bugged at the moment. When this skill ends, instead of removing the respective buffs from each animal, every single buff that the Beast Tamer player had is removed. This includes Monster Park potions, Rune buffs, Soul Summons, and more. 5th JobNo changes were made to Beast Tamer's 5th job aside from the the node descriptions of certain skills being clarified to mention that they buff other skills as well. Animal Set-upPrior to this patch, the passive stacking bug made it so that the ideal animal set-up was Bear/Leopard/Hawk. This was due to the many passive effects in Leopard Mode and Hawk Mode being applied to Bear Mode as well. After the patch however, it was a little more difficult to determine the most effective animal set-up. Since passive stacking is no longer possible, Cat Mode has once again become a great choice alongside Bear Mode due to Meow Card. With passive stacking, Cat Mode and Meow Card was not as necessary because Bear/Leopard/Hawk out damaged Bear/Hawk/Cat and Bear/Leopard/Cat even if Meow Gold Card had a 100% uptime. Bear Mode and Cat Mode are the important animal modes as of the RISE patch. However, with sources of +1 All Skill Levels, a third animal can invested into as well. The choice is between Leopard Mode and Hawk Mode and unfortunately this is where it gets a little difficult. Leopard Mode has some of the best training capabilities in the entire game and has great mobility. Hawk Mode has party buffs, very great mobility, very above average training capabilities as of the RISE patch (assuming that the player OHKOs with Defensive Formation and the Baby Bomber's bug is fixed), and significantly increases Beast Tamer's survivability through the Fly skill. If Beast Tamer's Level 190 Hyper Skill had a much higher uptime, then the ideal animal set-up would most likely still be Bear/Leopard/Hawk. However, due to the skill's very low uptime, the benefits of Meow Card results in Cat Mode's Meow Card being more effective. Furthermore, the Level 190 Hyper Skill transfers over all of Cat Mode's buffs to other animal modes, which even passive stacking didn't allow for. This further benefits the Bear/Hawk/Cat set-up. As a result, for players that main Beast Tamer: Ideal Animal Set-up: Bear/Hawk/Cat This is under the assumption that the Beast Tamer player is able to 2HKO or OHKO with Defensive Formation and that the Baby Bomber's bug will be fixed. Leopard Mode can be invested into instead of Hawk Mode but please note that you will lose a lot of utility that Hawk Mode provides. EDIT: With about +5 All Skill Levels, it is possible to learn some skills from all four animal modes. The skill set-up is a little tricky, so it may be a little more beneficial to run three animal modes as mentioned above. For players that are training Beast Tamer for its Legion Effect or Link Skill: Ideal Animal Set-up: Bear/Leopard Leopard is the most important animal mode for training specifically for Legion and Link Skill mules. After Leopard Mode, investing into Bear Mode is recommended so that the player can run Horntail for EXP. Any leftover skill points can be invested into Hawk Mode or Cat Mode. Node Set-upSkills that should be maxed in order of importance: Furious Strikes/Li'l Fort/ Formation Attack/Tornado Flight If the player is running Bear/Leopard/Cat instead or if the player is training their Beast Tamer character to Level 210 and is using nodes, important Leopard Skills that should be maxed in order of importance include Leopard's Paw/Three-Point Pounce/Thunder Dash/Macho Dance. Inner AbilityPrior to this patch, buff duration was not too useful for Beast Tamer due to the ideal set-up being Bear/Leopard/Hawk. However, with this patch increasing the prominence of Cat Mode and Meow Card, buff duration is highly recommended as a second line. Inner Ability Set-up: First Line: Attack Speed or Boss Damage or Buff Duration
Second Line: Buff Duration (if the Attack Speed bug is fixed) or Boss Damage (if the first line is Buff Duration with the bug not fixed). Third Line: Item Droprate/Magic Attack/Meso Obtain (Reboot Server). Hyper Skill PassivesIn terms of investing into Hyper Skill passives, if the player is maining Beast Tamer, the recommended passives are: Furious Strikes-Reinforce, Furious Strikes-Extra Strike, Furious Strikes-Boss Rush, Formation Attack-Reinforce, Formation Attack-Spread. If the player is investing into Leopard Mode instead of Hawk Mode or training a Beast Tamer for its Legion Effect or Link Skill, then the recommended passives include Three-Point Pounce-Extra Strike and Three-Point Pounce-Reinforce. BugsThere are quite a few very important bugs introduced to the class after the RISE patch. The bugs that are in bold are significantly more important:
Future ChangesWhile Beast Tamer's damage output has decreased as of the update, there are many changes that could be made to Beast Tamer in terms of quality of life or damage output:
Overall, the changes to Hawk Mode have increased Hawk Mode's training capabilities by a lot. Hawk Mode has a very unique training method now. Unfortunately, the lack of a node for Defensive Formation means that a lot of funding is required to effectively train with Hawk Mode, but the player is greatly rewarded if they manage to reach that point. The passive stacking bug being fixed has resulted in Beast Tamer's damage output being halved. While the changes to Hawk Mode were great, overall these changes can be considered a heavy nerf to the class. I'm very sorry to everyone that mains Beast Tamer and I hope that one day the damage output of the class increases! I will edit this post as more updates regarding bugs and new discoveries are made! :) Thank you! :) [link] [comments]

Any must know quality of life things? Posted: 11 Jun 2020 04:30 PM PDT For example, just realized that the puffram has auto mp pots. Which blew my mind. Any others? thanks. [link] [comments]
Posted: 11 Jun 2020 11:12 PM PDT Is anyone else getting locked out of tengu? This must be a bug right. Nothing in the patch notes about random 5-45 minutes of deactivation or a relog for them to be usable again. [link] [comments]
Potential soft cap on meso market Posted: 12 Jun 2020 12:15 AM PDT So in Scania meso market is 1 billion meso is 15k MP and the value may continue to rise with the free MP flooding into the market via relay event. This gives a simple number of 66.67k meso per 1 maple point In Maple tour to get extra runs you pay 300 MP up to 5 extra runs a day. You get 4.5 million meso per level 200+ run if you wait unti sunday reset and 1 maple tour coin. 140 maple tour coins turns into 1 billion mesos (abet over time, but none the less. This comes out to 7.14 millions mesos per run via tour coins. So to sum up Now to find the soft cap on the meso market we just need to make 300 maple points equal 1 maple tour. So if the meso market hits 1 Billion meso per 25,773 MP If there are more effective measures of turning MP in mesos i'm all ears [link] [comments]
Wondering About Alternatives to Gollux for Early Game Transition to Mid Game. Posted: 12 Jun 2020 02:17 AM PDT Hey guys, I recently tera burned a dark knight. I made it to chuchu and usually at this point I would just ask a friend to run me through hellux to get a superior set but I don't think finding a hellux carry will be easy with the difficulty and the ability to get additional rings and earrings. In any event it seems like it will take a long time to get some good gollux equips up and running. In the meantime, which accessories would you guys recommend as placeholder? I was thinking of using horntail and sticking with boss set, cubing it to leg, and then using it for drop gear after I get gollux, but idk if there is something better than horntail that I should use instead. Also I already know about Kanna's Treasure and Meisters (although I would rather not do meisters since they are a pain in the ass). Btw I'm in GMS Reboot. [link] [comments]
Posted: 11 Jun 2020 01:04 PM PDT Is the Maple Guide just... missing half of the places now? I can't even warp to El Nath-- you know, the place with access to Zakum, Lion King's Castle, a Dimensional Mirror, and a Free Market? I also decided to do that awful 999 Jr. Newtie grind just so I could get to Horntail a little faster and... now that's just gone! I've looked around and no one's mentioned it, so I swear I must be missing something because this is the first thing I noticed with the update. Is there something better than the Maple Guide? If you don't keep constant Teleport Rocks on you, how are you meant to get around? Or am I just blind and there's an extra tab in the guide that I've missed? Edit: Part of the heartbreak definitely comes from opening the guide for the first time and thinking "oh my god, I don't have to scroll all the way down just to warp to Ellinel, Riena, and Gold Beach for their Reward Points? This UI is so much more convenient, I'm gonna be flying through the bosses now!" [link] [comments]
Posted: 11 Jun 2020 09:51 PM PDT I'm a pretty noobish player who's never done any content past level 200. I'm on the reboot server. I understand the concept of getting armor and then getting cubes and upgrading the armor and stuff. What dailys and bosses should I be doing to get gear? Thanks in advance, sorry for the nooby question. Guides and forums online seem to have alot of random information and it's very confusing. I hope somebody can clarify here. [link] [comments]

Confirmation of Corsair Legion Effect on Kishin? Posted: 11 Jun 2020 01:50 PM PDT Has anyone done proper testing to see if the Corsair Legion block offering % summon duration has an effect on kishin? I've seen conflicting one off comments suggesting it does, it does but only on the damaging summon and not the spawn effect, and that it doesn't at all. [link] [comments]
Why won't my skill work anymore Posted: 11 Jun 2020 10:26 PM PDT So, new player here. I got my kanna onto level 170 but after taking a break for 3 days after doing the pixel event my shikigami haunting suddenly stopped working. TT. TT Not working as in I couldn't drag the skill to my keyboard. Apparently even my Ghost Yaksha skill is acting the same way. But the other skills are still fine??? Help please [link] [comments]
Anyone else have terrible lag ? Posted: 11 Jun 2020 01:40 PM PDT So I'm trying to do dailies to get my souls, but whenever I enter a monster map I just have terrible lag. I'm in reboot by the way Edit: I also disconnected 3 times with how bad the lag is, I also don't lag in the town maps as well [link] [comments]
