With the game being down and mods deleting popular posts, let's have a meta discussion?

    Posted: 26 Aug 2020 10:20 AM PDT

    continued from here

Firstly, let's talk about moderator bias and inconsistent ruling. The mods have decided by themselves to arbitrarily censor image macros that they possibly find offensive to their ruling, or appear as 'maliciously compliant', as seen with this inconsistency here. Mods should be unbiased towards the content of the image macro, and allow all image macros of similar or equal effort. It seems like people are being censored for criticizing the ruling of the subreddit, and I'm sure many would disagree with censoring our ability to voice our opinions about the subreddit and the state of it.

Secondly, let's talk about image macro content. There have been many posts that have made it to the top of the subreddit, with high upvote percentages, indicating that most people on the subreddit enjoy the content. However, they were immediately removed for not complying with specific rules (rule 8), where an edit of anything maplestory related suddenly transforms the content from lazy to non-lazy. We have posts this week of someone just screenshotting '69', someone taking a screenshot of a reaction in game (which apparently isn't an image macro because it's maple related) and similarly edited memes that have one element of maplestory added. (I'm not advocating for their removal)

We should let the community decide and have them downvote posts they don't like. If a meme post makes it to the top of the subreddit, and isn't harassing anyone, there should be no reason to remove it. There is virtually no difference between having memes of image macros with no edited parts and a single maplestory icon added to it, and in many cases effort put into making sure the right font, the right spacing between words, readability of text and phrasing requires a lot more effort than just copy pasting a maple-related image over an existing image macro.

I'd also like to point everyone to this discussion between one of the mods and myself. One thing mentioned was that

There's a point where lazy image macros become spam. We had people complain, the mods agreed that it was a problem. Now theres a rule.

If this is the case, I'd like to voice my concern on behalf of those who enjoy memes to reverse or relax the rules. I firmly believe that there are more people who enjoy memes that not, as indicated by the high upvote counts, even on what the mods would consider 'lazy image macros'. We've had two posts reach the front page of this subreddit and been subsequently removed as a result of the rule. Furthermore, there have been many that have called to remove low effort questions that belong in the megathread, but that doesn't seem to have been addressed yet. I personally say if we can keep low effort question threads, then we should be allowed the freedom to meme however we want.

In any case, I hope we're allowed to express any concerns we have with this subreddit. It does almost seem like the mods are unhappy with people expressing their opinions opposing any decisions they have on the subreddit, but at least it seems like they've at least allowed previous threads on meta discussion and concerns, so I'm hoping this sticks.

(I don't believe this post has broken any rules. I have waited 24 hours since my last accepted post on the subreddit so this doesn't constitute spam. I don't believe I'm harassing any mods, but just simply raising concerns and creating a discussion thread where people are able to voice the concerns with the ruling of the mods. I'm not calling out any specific mods. I do think that they are trying to guide this subreddit in the best way they can, and trying to make this a good place for everyone to enjoy. However, I do think that there is a clear disconnect between the desires of the community and the direction the mods want to take the subreddit in. Please do not harass anyone. I'm looking for civilized discussion of the state of the subreddit.)

PSA: Do NOT pick Umbra. Exp isn't that good, and you get 1 shot.

    Posted: 26 Aug 2020 04:16 PM PDT

Surge is already faster to train with than Umbra. The main problem however is the fact theres some mob that does a shit ton of damage. My level 70 Hayato died 11 times in the span of 12 minutes in Umbra.

    An unbiased Umbra Review.

    Posted: 26 Aug 2020 05:41 PM PDT

To preface, i have around 3400 legion, and Exp/aran/evan links at level 2 each. This was on my fresh demon Slayer.

I was able to go from 61-100 in the 30 mins i was in umbra. I was also able to take advantage of everyone elses buffs. Exp started to tail off significantly towards the end, as people would die and not come back. The exp is WAY better when there are 5-8 people in the map.I received around 30 coins for the full hour.

I had a mvp buff, and an mvp 1.5x coupon. I will absolutely be using this on my level 61 mules, as it is very easy and fast to get to 4th job.

Tips: Pet with MVP diamond/purple elixer/something that heals for full. - The rats will absolutely take half your hp, i dont know who is saying it is one shotting, but like 2-3 hits on them will 100% kill you. I pre-bought like 7 buff freezers, and only ended up using one.

EDIT: Went 120-134 on my Ice/lightning mage in 30 mins with mvp and 1.5x buff. not awful.

Guild Privilege's and Questions for Guild Masters

    Posted: 27 Aug 2020 01:57 AM PDT

I was wondering what powers guild masters have vs. ordinary members / jrs. I was talking to an old guildmaster and he mentioned that GM's have guild smegas and the ability to open up the recruiting tab...

what other abilities do guild masters get that jrs / normal members don't get?

I know the basic ones like appointing jrs, promoting/expelling , disbanding, etc. Are guild smegas like foreal or was he just messing lol
