Quick Zero Guide with Hidden Mechanics and General Gameplay

    Posted: 07 Dec 2020 06:46 PM PST

Zero is confirmed to be released in ALL servers so here's a gameplay guide.

DISCLAIMER: I have double-checked the following information to the best of my ability and have taken the input of commenters below. I have not read or heard of any differences in the system mechanics over in KMS Reboot, so I am currently porting the relevant non-Reboot systems to Reboot.

Mechanics and Tips (from a Scania Zero Main)

    Weapon Tips

    • Upgrading Lapis/Lazuli will give you the option of transferring the scrolling, flame, star force, and potential from the old weapon to the new weapon.
    • Lapis and Lazuli share the same potential and apply the Type 7-9 30% Boss Damage, 10% (20%) IED weapon stat lines twice. In other words, Zero doubles their Weapon's potential.
    • SCROLLING AND POTENTIAL: Zero's Lapis/Lazuli are linked. Scrolling one scrolls the other. The potential on one is the same on the other.
      • You have to use a WSE optimizer and lock the potential of the secondary weapon to be the same as the primary weapon to find the best potentials for you. As an example, for me, I have 33% Attack potential on Lapis/Lazuli (this is effectively 66% Attack). The optimizer says I get more damage if I rolled a 40% Boss Damage, 20% Attack potential instead. This is with 107% damage, 320%/350% Boss Damage, 94%/92% IED already.
      • In non-Reboot:
        • Either use 10x 15% Spell Trace for +40 STR, +90 Attack;
        • Use 10x Prime scrolls for Two-Handed Weapon for +30 STR, +100 Attack;
        • Or whale out and use 10x X Scrolls for Two-Handed Weapon for +50 STR, +100-120 Attack. If you are doing this, why are you even reading this guide? LMAO.
    • Zero's Weapon can be treated as a part of a set based on the Lucky Item Scroll used. You have to farm Chaos Vellum for the Root Abyss (Warrior) Lucky Weapon Scroll to make it part of the CRA Warrior Set or buy the Absolab (Warrior) Lucky Scroll for 1 Absolab Coin to make it part of the Absolab Set. If you boom your weapon, you will lose the Lucky Weapon Scroll effect.
    • Zero can only receive a free new pair of swords up to Type 7 so if you boom Type 8, you'll have to eat an Absolab Essence to trace over your potential and flame. Starforce Type 7 Lapis/Lazuli to 22 stars before upgrading to Type 8 with Absolab Essence. In Reboot, you will be giving up months of Dark World Tree weeklies if you Starforce at Type 8.
      • In non-Reboot, due to the maturity of the market, Absolab Essence may be fairly affordable (in Scania it is around 40 million mesos, as of December 2020). If you feel you need the damage increase from having Type 8 early, you can Starforce to 17 on Type 7 and then upgrade. Keep in mind that this method will add up to a billion mesos in cost for replacing Type 8 for future 22-Starforcing.
    • Starforce costs stay constant past level 150 (Type 6). So if you can't Starforce to 22 at Type 5, Starforce at Type 7, since it will cost the same amount as Starforcing at Type 6.
    • Rank up Lapis/Lazuli to Unique for free(-ish) in the weapons UI using the "Change Potential" button. It'll cost far less than cubes but will also consume Weapon Points (WP).
    • Do not prioritize flaming the swords. The swords are treated as normal weapons and thus will only gain up to Tier 5 normal flames. Use this link to find the base weapon attack flame at any weapon type. The Weapon UI has an option to flame Lapis/Lazuli for 50k mesos and Weapon Points.
    • If you have funding/resources:
      • Non-Reboot: Use the common flames (lv. 110-150 flames) to reset Lapis/Lazuli Type 1 or Type 2 for 23 Att (this is tier 5 flame; see below for tier 5 flames for all Types).
      • Reboot: Reboot only has Powerful Rebirth Flames for 9.5 million mesos or Eternal Rebirth Flames from events. Save your mesos and DO NOT BUY STRONG REBIRTH FLAMES FROM HENESYS POTION SHOP! Just reset the flame via the Weapon UI (see below for tier 5 flames for all Types).
    • On Lapis/Lazuli Type 5, Star Force to 22 Stars. At this point, you should also be rolling to unique potential via Weapon UI or Meister/Red Cubing for Legendary Potential. Once Lapis/Lazuli is at 22 Stars you are free to upgrade to Type 8 whenever you are ready with the Absolab Essence.
    • WEAPON ATTACK FLAMES: The following is the maximum attack you can earn through flames for each type: Type 1/2: 23 Att; Type 3: 32 Att; Type 4: 34 Att; Type 5: 36 Att; Type 6: 41 Att; Type 7: 64 Att; Type 8: 76 Att; Type 9: 131 Att.

    Experience the Grind

    • You will not get experience in Maple World before completing the Storyline (level 180) aside from bosses. You have to grind in Mirror World Dungeons and complete the Storyline. Do not bother grinding outside of dungeons before level 180! This info is outdated. It seems as long as you finish Storyline Chapter 2, you can grind outside Mirror World. HOWEVER, I still recommend just grinding in Mirror World Dungeons to farm Time Coins, Dimension Fragments (For cheap Empress-level Gear), and Weapon Points.
    • The Storyline also upgrades the Link Skill and one of Zero's Shared Passive Skill.

    Crafting and Traits

    • In Zero's Temple, there is a bookshelf. Three times a day this bookshelf will give you a ton of trait experience. Enjoy.
    • In Zero's Temple, the NPC Dello will give you free crafting experience/levels. Enjoy.

    Items

    • Cello sells many items for Time Coins that you get by running Mirror World Dungeons.
    • You need 500 Time Coins for Zero's Eternal Time Emblem.
    • Zero has a personal Empress-equivalent craftable armor set for a total of 3500 Time Coins. It consists of a Hat, Overall, Shoes, Gloves, Cape, Belt, and Shoulder.
    • You can buy fame for 10 Time Coins.
    • There is a very good Mirror World Dungeon called Kritias that can be entered three times a day. It requires a Spring of Rebirth to enter. The item costs 5 Time Coins each.
    • I recommend 3 Piece CRA (Hat/Top/Bottom) + 5 Piece Absolab (Absolab Scrolled Lapis/Lazuli) or 4 Piece CRA (Root Abyss Scrolled Lapis/Lazuli) + 5 Piece Absolab if you use a Lucky Item Chaos Vellum Helmet as a linchpin.

    Skills, Skill Rotation, and Trinodes

    • At level 200, the common skill rotation is (Alpha/Beta) T3/T4>T4/T3>(Tag)>(Beta/Alpha) T3/T4>T4/T3>(Tag)
    • IE1: Starting as Alpha, Wind Cutter->Wind Striker->Storm Break->Rolling Cross->Rolling Assault->(Tag to Beta) Spin Driver->Wind Wheel (long enough to proc Alpha's Assist Rolling Assault)->Giga Crash->Falling Star->Earth Break
    • During Tag, you can Animation Cancel Shadow Rain by Tagging again.
    • Trinode Priorities: Wind Cutter/Wind Striker/Storm Break and Rolling Cross/Rolling Assault/Shadow Rain. You only need a set of trinodes to upgrade both Alpha's and Beta's skills. Alpha's and Beta's skills do not have separate trinodes.
    • Zero has an advanced binding mechanic. Shadow Rain is a 100% 4-sec bind derived from Beta's Critical Bind passive. This Critical Bind has a 35-second cooldown that is reset-able. At 5th Job, begin the chain binding with Chrono Break (~10 seconds; it is a normal bind that does not stack with other typical binds like Erda Nova). Once this bind wears off, use Shadow Rain (animation cancel if possible (see above), this skill will lock you out for 3 seconds if you don't). Reset the cooldown timer with Time Holding, and attack with your skills to proc Critical Bind after Shadow Rain's bind wears off. Once this second bind wears off, reset the cooldown timer again with Transcendent Rhinne's Blessing and attack again to proc the third Critical Bind. Enjoy the 22-second bind.
    • Zero has multiple iframes. Beta has Immune Barrier that has a reset-able cooldown that will tank a hit. Time Holding will make Zero invincible for 15 seconds. Lastly, Twin Blades of Time will make you invincible for the duration of the skill's attack animation (it's a hold-down skill).

    Inner Ability

    • GMS 0 Attack Speed Meta: You need (Legendary) +1 Attack Speed for the first line.
    • Second and Third Lines are 10% Cooldown Bypass (required for bind spamming) and 21 Attack (recommended because of the 100% damage from Reboot buff), 10% Boss Damage, or 20% Critical Rate (if you aren't capping on Beta or even Alpha; Alpha always has 25% more critical rate than Beta).

Stat Differences between Alpha and Beta

    • Due to their passives, Alpha and Beta have different base stats.
    • Alpha always has 25% more Critical Rate, 50% more Critical Damage, and 30% more IED than Beta.
    • Alpha has 2 stages of Attack Speed more than Beta.
    • Beta always has 30% more Boss Damage than Alpha.
    • Beta attacks always do 8% more damage per fewer targets hit (IE: Advanced Earth Break can hit up to 6 enemies, so if you are hitting one enemy the skill does 40% more damage).
    • Beta applies up to 50%IED on enemies via a debuff.
    • Beta is tankier as she has a passive invincibility shield proc.

    Combat

    • Alpha and Beta have separate HP and TF pools. Whichever one has tagged out gains a massive HP and TF regen.
    • Keybind Burst Step. This will allow you to spam it to dodge ground level boss mechanics like Lotus Electric Field and Lucid Dragon Breath. This skill is a dash, not a teleport so don't use it to try to dodge a permanent AOE like phase 1 Lotus laser.

    • You came back after playing for years, remember your PIN?
    • Burning Stage: < 60%

    • Broke both in the game and in real life
    • Unscheduled Maintenance.. We expect this to last until reset, screw your dailies.
    • Scheduled Maintenance.. We expect this to last for a few hours, but the unscheduled maintenance that follows will last until reset, screw your dailies. Here, have 300 2x exp coupons as compensation
    • Cubes
    • Looking at juicy gear in the Auction House, and crying when you look at your own mesos.
    • Buying something you wanted in the auction house, only to see it posted for much cheaper a day later.

Add any other pains you may experience with this god forsaken game I love so much.

So i whispered her and it just started rolling again and got together! 2 years passed and on March 2015 we finally decided to meet IRL... i was really nervous and insecure since she was actually taller than me... when we saw each other we instantly clicked and just felt like we were talking on our skype calls! What class do you enjoy but you won't main and why?

    Posted: 07 Dec 2020 03:53 PM PST

Just curious about this because I feel like everyone enjoys a class but for some reason don't main or even pick it up as a secondary. For me I have a 211 TB, but I don't think I'm going to push him much further because I don't see him being someone I really enjoy bossing with compared to my main Ho Young (231) or secondary Adele (225).

250+ Shades where do you train?

    Posted: 08 Dec 2020 12:59 AM PST

I have recently reached level 250 for the first time and I actually don't know what is the optimal map to train and continue farming in, I tried looking up some YouTube videos but there doesn't seem to be enough content for 250+ training areas (specifically for Shades), I've tried void current 3 and also Labyrinth interior 4 and 5, they seemed kind of ok but I wanted to take opinions from any end game Shade players out there.

    Any help is appreciated, Thanks!

Legion strat - doing Zak on all mules still viable?

    Posted: 07 Dec 2020 11:08 PM PST

I've read a lot of posts from people building legion and how the easiest way to get 6k is to get all mules to 100 then slowly do Zak on all of them. Zak doesn't even give full levels mid 120s, and only 30% exp around the 130 range. That's a whole month just for 130 - 140, compared to the "1 month for 100-140" that I've seen on here. Is this still a viable strat that people use to up their legion? These posts had to have been made when you could still boss 2x.

And I know ain't no one looking for runes on each mule everyday, that'd take forever.

    Zero in Reboot Preparation Guide!

    Posted: 07 Dec 2020 04:35 AM PST

Zero is coming out soon in Reboot so I thought I'd make a guide on how to prepare to main this class!

    One/ Arkanna

This is the most important step and you should have one anyway. If you don't have one, that's fine too, but Kanna's are the easiest way to farm your mesos, especially if you want to save your wild totems for training when Zero comes out later this month.

    Two/ Mesos

Tying in with the first point, you'll need a whole bunch of mesos for Cubing and Star Forcing your gear when the class comes out. Unfortunately, you can't move gear between characters so you'll need extra meso to pour into fodder gear as you make your way to the end staples like CRA, Gollux, SW, Absolab & Arcane.

    Three/ Nodes

Nodes are extremely important for your damage! You should take a look at what Nodes Zeros need. According to this thread, here's the nodes you need -

    [Zero]

    Trio Skills: Pierce Thrust/Spin Cutter/Rolling Cross/Rolling Assault/Wind Cutter/Wind Strike/Storm Break

    Options:

Choose 1 combo skill you do not utilize (recommended to be Pierce Thrust as it's only required in Lotus, credits to almog12497) and enhance the other 6 skills into 2 sets of perfect trios

Utilize 5 nodes (total of 15 skills) to encompass all 7 skills twice (total of 14 skills)

That is probably more than you were expecting, so make sure to save up as many as you can for their release! Like the post suggests, you might want to hold off a bit in order to familiarize yourself with Zero's combos and disregard the skill that you use the least.

Four/ Diffusion-Line Energy Core (Grade A) and Faint Stigma Spirit Stone

Absolab gear is going to be important as a steeping stone to Arcane, and you may very well likely be stuck with this set of equipment for a while, so make sure to save up those cores and stones so that you can ask your guilds and friends for carries as soon as the class releases!

    Five/ Arcane River Droplet Stone

Arcane gear is endgame, so you'll need 216 of these bad boys in order to craft the full set you want! Zero has an Arcane Umbra Essence that costs 24, the same as all the other weapons. They also have an extra Arcane Umbra Lucky Item Scroll that costs 4, so effectively you'll need 220 droplets altogether.

    Six/ Trait Boost Potion

This is easily forgotten, but traits are very important, especially in unlocking the pocket slot and extra IED.

Seven / Links & Legion & Legion Coin Shop

Zero doesn't differ too much from other classes in their requirements, but you could always make sure those EXP links are ready for leveling Zero! Zero isn't particularly high on the DPM charts, so they could always use a little boost in the damage department, especially if you want your electricity to one-shot at LCUP. I'm just kidding, you're not going to find a free map at LCUP ever again.

The Legion Coin shop is going to be one of your best friends for 2x EXP coupons, and all sorts of other useful things, so make sure to save up those coins, and don't spend them on extra cubes right now!

Eight / Meister Ring Crafting Materials

Plan ahead to be able to create the BiS ring early on! All those hours of farming veins and killing Arkarium will finally be put to use!

    Nine / Monster Park Potions

Zeros need the Attack Speed inner ability, and thus Green Pot is essential for the class. Gold Pots will be crucial in leveling up even faster, and Red Pots can't hurt in helping during training or bossing.

    Ten / Boss Carries

Plan ahead and arrange for your boss carries! As great as Zero's kit is, don't expect them to be able to solo Lomien just after reaching the required level! If your main is strong enough, you can always try to find a thread (even this one) to trade carries with someone else! Hellux for Gollux equips, HMag for Tyrants, CHT for the boss accessory equips, HHilla for the Blackheart pet, CZak for boss equips, Empress if you want that as a stepping stone towards CRA/Absolab, Pink Bean for the pocket item, PNo for the secondary, Lomien and Lucid for rushing Absolab and Arcanes. Make sure they have drop gear to help you out!

    Eleven / Pot Scrolls, Stamps

This should be self explanatory, but you'll want to get your pots on so that you can cube ASAP! You can always also try for Yu Garden's epic pot scrolls too!

    Twelve / Questline Guides

You want these guides to be at a moment's reach, so you can blaze through the quest-lines you need to get through. Hieizan Temple for the Ring, Afterlands for the totems, MONAD for the Title, Masteria through time for the Medal, etc..

    Thirteen / Familiars

90% Boss? Many sources of IED? What's not to want! The familiar system provides so much in terms of damage and helping you get up there, so make sure you have all the sets you want ready for your Zero! All that Tenebris farming is going to pay off!

    Fourteen / Guild

Guilds are a crucial part of your damage, as they provide guild skills as well as those extra bonuses to get you through the tough early levels. Make sure your guild leader is okay with your mule being in their guild, especially since everyone else will want the guild benefits to themselves too.

    Fifteen / IGN

There's nothing worse than looking at an IGN that you hate all day! Make sure the IGN you want isn't taken, and you can even save it to a spare character you have! Don't be that person who has to settle with XxIL1K3Z3R0xX

    Sixteen / Level Route

Are you going to enjoy the entire 10 hour story-line, or are you going to exit early at 120? You have to think ahead, and plan how you are going to progress! Since you start from level 100, and can only exit the mirror world by level 120, it's an entirely different experience from leveling a class from 100-200. You'll also need to complete certain parts of the quest-line to unlock the full effect of the Zero link and legion. Make sure you know the popular and backup training areas off the back of your hand, as you may be forced to take a slight detour as all the popular training spots will be taken.

Make sure to also learn about leveling tips like taking the Haven quest at 199 50% for a free 50% of a level! Or the underutilized Fox Valley maps that have recently become more popular in the 100-200 grind!

    Seventeen / Rewards Points

Not everyone has a second PC for a Kanna. You'll want to save up those Reward Points for the Wild Totems when Zero comes out!

    Eighteen / Potion Materials

We're all familiars with EXP accumulation potions and Wealth Accumulation Potions, which are notoriously known as WAPs amongst certain members of the community. Farm those veins and prepare the materials you need for their release! You can never have too many!

    Nineteen / Events

Bamboo Shoots are shared amongst all characters in your world, and can provide bonuses such as EXP or Pollo/Fritto portals for easy leveling. Make sure to save space to buy things such as the Trait Boost potion for your charm, or for extra Symbols/Nodes that you'll need to help you get your damage up! Save up those extra Growth potions for when your Zero reaches 200/210/220, etc...

Twenty / Lastly - Real Life

Prepare your real life too! Remember that your human character needs to eat and sleep and have toilet breaks! You also possibly have obligations such as Work, Class, Projects or just social hangouts. Make some time for your Zero journey, and make sure you have plenty of water and snacks in case you accidentally get super absorbed into Zero's storyline. Make sure your friends know that they might miss you for a few days or weeks, and consider even requesting a day or two off work because you might spend more time on the game that you'll anticipate and plan for!

If you have any questions, feel free to post in this thread or in the general megathread when Zero finally arrives on the 16th! Remember that streamers love helping their community, and most of the Maple streamers will be undertaking the same journey you are, for their first time too!, so make sure to check out those streams alongside your own leveling, as you'll be sure to learn from their mistakes, while being able to ask questions in their chats, which they'll be more than happy to answer!

If I'm wrong on anything here, feel free to correct me! I don't know everything about the game, and I'm sure I missed something vital, so please help me because I also love learning!

    [Reboot: NA] R> Lunchables

    Posted: 07 Dec 2020 10:08 PM PST

Hi, we are recruiting for Lunchables

Who are we:We are a level 26 guild. We just did a M A J O R revamp in the guild, so we are looking for new blood. ;)

We are a progressive, family based guild. We look for a non-toxic, positive atmosphere.

    • We are looking for Mains
    • 19 year of age or older
    • Family based carries (that means that carries are based on contribution, per need, guild involvement)
    • Weekly GPQ for the guild skills. (req to get carries)
    • Discord preferred (not needed).

    What you will expect:

    • Bimonthly events - for that sweet sweet NX.
    • Help with your Maple experience
    • Movie nights (or netflix series)
    • Progression, not carries.

If this is something that you can vibe with, let me know. If you are looking into a guild that is just for carries, I would sadly suggest you to a different guild. My juniors and I are on Maple/discord very often, so we are just a few clicks away.

Discord info: Guild Leader - GalaxyApple#4814 (me) Tablefliip on Maple
GalaxyBears#8209 (my junior) GalaxyKishin on Maple
    Kibius#4360 (jr) Phabius on Maple

    Worth restarting?

    Posted: 07 Dec 2020 04:09 PM PST

Long story short, my account was hacked and said hacker got it banned. I can't get it back because it's been years since I've played and can't remember any names of my characters.

I was really looking forward to playing it again, but now that I know I'll have to completely make a new account and start from the bottom, is it worth it?

Any experienced or inexperienced players have any weigh in? Cause I'm honestly super disappointed right now.
