Solo Progression CRA 3 doors in 10 days, ~6k stat - super detailed journey! Posted: 15 Aug 2020 10:34 PM PDT On August 6th, I started a DB from scratch. I'll be off from the game from the 17th so I wanted to go for one final challenge to close my summer Maplestory chapter. My goals were the following: aim to accomplish 3 doors CRA in ten days (or whenever the earliest I could unlock CRA was). The challenge was I was going to do this solo and within 10 days. On August 15th, I was able to take out 3 doors at level 206/207, 6.2k stat buffed all while sticking to solo progression. The majority of my items were rare except my FAbsolab, Emblem, and Secondary. My Nodes were level 10 Asura for CQueen/CChicken and level 8 phantom blade for CClown (I swapped out boost node). I self-restricted this solo progression with a few exceptions - I did NOT transfer money or items from other characters or the bank except for about 60 aquamarines (to get crafting to level 6 ASAP), one pet that had auto heal + auto all cure, and used about ~400 legion coins worth purely for training purposes. I also had enough reward points to get the five black cubes from the store. I have 3.5k legion, which was definitely useful and not at all to be underestimated. It wouldn't have been as easy without that boost. I also was a part of a guild and for two bosses - CPB and CZak - I used the 30% BD and 30% CD buffs. However, they felt too much like cheating so I decided not to use them for CRA. Additionally, not everyone has access to them and DB's Final Damage makes them especially effectively. So I didn't want to use Guild Skills which skews my progression. Most of my run was relatively casual - I didn't grind too hard and I purposely did quests along the way because I didn't want to over level (what fun is a challenge if I'm too high leveled for it?) I stopped at 206 (would have been 205 but I leveled from dailies). I actually died once at Clown so I did dailies while waiting out the 30 minutes. Doing so leveled me up to 207. I made ALL money through bossing, a few Ursus runs, extracting, and Maple Tour. A HUGE buff to my mesos/symbol/nodestone gain was Lucky Salon Boxes - I maxed them out every day which honestly got me so many nodes and so much money. I also was able to get the Fake Absolab on Day 8 or so. Again, I did not receive items or money from other characters aka no ferrying over mesos farming, cubes, etc. WSE (only items of note - everything else was weak flames, 3% rare, or 6% epic) My Progression points, using stat as a measure:
Other notable mentions:
Equipment Progression:
The moment 3 doors opened up, I did them without practice on my DB so some of my deaths were PURELY because I was not mechanically great. Chaos QueenHonestly, the easiest CRA boss IMO if you have one iFrame. You just iFrame her Zombify then otherwise, you never die. I did CQueen with 4 minutes left, in part because of some bad luck with DR mode. I enjoyed jumping back and forth to dodge her swing. Chaos ChickenDid Chicken back-to-back with Queen. Same thing - minus some silly deaths, Chicken was easy. Burst and jump around, confuse him to no end. During Magnus stage, use Asura - it has super stance so you can't be knocked back. I had 4 minutes left. I really enjoyed fighting Chicken, however. Chaos ClownI... died out the first run. I did it after Chicken and with a vengeance - Clown was my first EVER CRA in Maplestory (on my Hayato) and I struggled SO MUCH with him. I got hatted (mistimed Dark Sight) and died, accidentally got double-hit (dying before I could heal appropriately), etc. All silly mistakes. During my wait, I accidentally leveled to 207. I decided to swap out my level 5 (+5) Asura node for a level 4 (+5) PB node because I was NEVER using Asura. I needed better PB as I was poking with PB wherever I could. I also popped a RA potion that gave me +20% IED in RA. Second run - I came back with a fury. A Blade Fury, that is, and took out Clown! I forget the timer but I had plenty left. I yelped when I took it out. Conclusion:This was super fun - some of the most fun I had in MS in a while. I'm no pro DB or a pro Mapler - just someone who enjoys the challenge of CRA. Was it frustrating at times as I was sometimes short on money to starforce, knowing I had money on my other characters? Yes. But it was super fun, too. I was surprised at some of my low stat kills (HHilla and NCyg especially). I hope this can give some clarity/inspiration to folks wanting to solo bosses (at least up to CRA 3 doors)! My path to CRA has become shorter and shorter as I've gotten familiar with them. My Hayato (first to ever CRA) did 3 doors at 10-11k. My Ark did them at 8-9k. My Hero did it around 6-6.5k, but with guild buffs. My DB is around 6k, but with the caveat that he was 99% solo progression and in ten days with no guild buffs! Super happy with the growth! tl;dr - my goal was solo 3 doors solo progression in about 10 days. It was a test of my own ability to progress as well as a testament that others can tackle at least 3 doors CRA without much. There are many ways to optimize my run more had I tried. Hope this gives both guidance and encouragement to folks to tackle CRA (and all bosses) earlier! :') [link] [comments]
Some simple tips to help you save time travelling between locations in Maplestory Posted: 15 Aug 2020 11:26 PM PDT Location teleport via Maple Guide: Killing 500 Rashes on a character will enable you to use the Maple Guide to teleport to Leafre (one map away from town) regardless of level Similarly, killing 250 Copper Drakes would enable you to teleport to Sleepywood which is useful for accessing Six Path Crossway where you can go to Pantheon to teleport to other locations, alternatively, completing Gold Beach's questline will allow you to teleport to Gold Beach regardless of level which you can access Six Path Crossway by chatting with the plane guy NPC You will automatically have Maple Guide teleport access to each Arcane River area upon completing the questline which makes it convenient for starting Arcane River dailies Horntail, Pink Bean and Arkarium without queueing: Accepting Chief Tatamo's Moria's Whereabouts quest will automatically teleport you to one map from Moria, this can be done once per day and you need to complete the quest by talking to Moria in order to receive the quest the next day Completing the Temple of Time quests will allow you to teleport to Three Doors via Maple Guide, this is useful for teleporting to Arkarium and Pink Bean, note that completing Temple of Time quests is a requisite to enter Pink Bean Utilising Hyper Teleport Rocks: You can use a teleport rock to teleport your character to Tyrant Castle Sitting Room Entry, enabling you to access Magnus quickly without queueing, similarly, you can teleport to Control Room 1 in Omega Sector and walk one map to access Kawoong (OMNI-CLM), Dead Mine 3 for Ranmaru and Lionheart Castle Fouth Tower for Von Leon You can teleport to Singapore and Malaysia using hyper teleport rock as long as your character is at least Level 170 and 190 respectively, applies only to MSEA Adrentmill Teleport: Players often will announce they are giving MVP at Adrentmill (Eg: MVP cc10 Adrentmill in 2mins), when you see this notice, open the professions tab and click on teleport to Adrentmill at the top right, note that there is a cooldown of 30 minutes between teleports If you're in Toadboss room in Kaede Castle, you can enter Adrentmill (after killing the boss) and change channel inside Adrentmill, this allows you to kill two toads in the same run without having to redo the jumpquest (this works in MSEA, unknown in GMS) I have no space in my inventory but I don't want to teleport to town: During events, you will have access to the event shop upon starting the quest, click on the event tab at the left side and go to the event map, usually, there will be an NPC where you can sell your stuff to clear your inventory and it is rather helpful if the map you're training in is quite a long walk from town Mirror of Dimension teleport (tested and works in MSEA) After Teleporting to Zipangu in MSEA, you can talk to Perry the pelican to warp you to Six Path Crossway [link] [comments]
Posted: 15 Aug 2020 11:52 AM PDT I've finally participated in my first ever Lomein struggle party, and I gotta say killing those two bosses without being carried felt really rewarding. Can't wait to do more of these! [link] [comments]

Optimal flaming with a limited number of flames (optimal stopping theory) Posted: 16 Aug 2020 01:55 AM PDT With a limited number of flames (i.e., 45 eternal flames in Mitra's Flame Box), how do you know when to settle? Keep in mind that with each flame, the old flame is gone forever and the new flame might be worse... This question is a reskin of the Secretary problem, solved in the early 60s (the derivation of the solution is on the Wikipedia page if you're interested) Here is the optimal strategy: 1. Divide n, your total number of flames, by e (appx. 2.72), rounding to the nearest integer 2. Use that many flames and keep track of the best flame you get. The easiest way to do this is via the equip's att increase value, just make sure everything else (pot lines, legion etc) remains the same 3. After you've used n/e flames, stop immediately once you get a flame better than any flame you've gotten so far For example, with the 45 flames you get from Mitra's box, you would use 45/e = 17 flames, while keeping track of the best flame you get. After that, you would use your remaining flames one by one, and stop once you get a flame better than any flame you got so far. This might be on your 18th, or you might use all 45 without ever getting a flame better than your initial 17. If your optimal stopping point happens to be early (e.g., your 18th flame happens to be better than the previous 17), you might be tempted to continue flaming, but even with 27 flames remaining, the odds would be against you! You'd be better off using them on a different equip (repeating the process above). Following this strategy, there is a 1/e = 37% chance of stopping on the best flame you could potentially encounter, had you used all the flames. 37% might seem low, but it's the best you can get... One caveat: If you land on a perfect/near-perfect flame before the optimal stopping point, obviously stop. For example, if your flame has 3 T7 lines and 1 T6, it's extremely unlikely you'll be able to roll something better with your remaining flames [link] [comments]
Posted: 16 Aug 2020 01:17 AM PDT Whenever I try to reset my PIC through the nexon website it gives me the following error, "You do not have a game character or password has not been set up on this account. I would contact support but I hope there is an easier way of solving this. [link] [comments]

is there a point to having victoria island/most maps anymore Posted: 15 Aug 2020 08:46 PM PDT the game moves so fast and there are so few people even playing anymore that i'm starting to see 95% of these maps as obsolete messes that Nexon doesn't know what to do with. you can just taxi to most destinations (if you're not AFK for hours) or use the portal thing so the maps in between are almost useless. not sure why the ships even have timers anymore there are no environmental interactions or people to queue with. or why they exist in the first place I was told that quests as a whole are not viable so there's another reason not to go to any of these places. I totally get that not everyone has time to spend 30 minutes walking to the other half of the in game world and would rather do other things. it just makes the game feel weird, lonely, and way too big also the map revamps on victoria island are so clunky and messy holy fuck who approved of that [link] [comments]

Posted: 15 Aug 2020 10:56 AM PDT I'm currently 201 training at upper steam. I find with everything rolling the training can feel very fluid. However I'm finding lack of consistency with placing my alters... I swear I'm placing them in the exact same spot but sometimes they just don't go or say they're too far apart etc. Currently I'm placing my 3 alters where I think is optimal, dropping grim harvest, using sweeping staff and dark genesis and then using aura scythe when harvest is on cool down. Any tips or recommended training locations would be much appreciated. My main is a Kaiser nearing 240 so this is quite different. Thanks! [link] [comments]
Is anyone lagging while trying to AFK in the rise event map? Posted: 15 Aug 2020 08:14 PM PDT It takes me several clicks while walking in the AFK area for rise salon, is this normal? Sometimes it won't work until I switch channels [link] [comments] |
